Pause to Be Well Now
Since December 1st, we have been practicing Celebrating December Well rather than stressed. I've given whole-person, science-based tips for moving well and resting well so you can Be Well Now.
We started with a user-friendly way to know if you are in the stress state or the well state.
When you are trying to get somewhere else, you are in the stress state.
When you are trusting what you know inside as your guide, you are in the well state.
You need the stress state. It lets you know that you have left the state where your brain and body are putting energy into healing, growing, and creative problem-solving.
We spent some time exploring the way to get back to the well state when you find yourself, missing what is here now while trying to get somewhere else.
Mindfulness gets your attention back to the present in a way that allows you to stay there, with curiosity, openness, and kindness.
Movement, built on a strong foundation, that follows the principles of movement science clears the ready-to-move tension that happens automatically when your brain is trying to problem-solve.
This past week we looked at how there are so many barriers to using that complete cure for the stress state like pain, fatigue, overwhelm, sleepless nights, and even joy. We looked at how we can transform them from barriers to being well now, to guides to Be Well Now.
Today take a moment to pause and ask yourself
What is helping me to shift from stress to well, from trying to trusting right now?
This valuable, personalized information is your key to continuing the holiday season with more moments in the well state. That does not mean you'll have a perfect holiday and be happy all the time. That would be nice but it's not possible.
Being Well Now means you are building your toolbox to spend less time in the stress state, trying to get somewhere else, and more time experiencing moments of embodied joy, peace, and connection to those you care about.
Stay tuned! In the second half of December, I will provide tips to Nourish Well.
No, I won't be giving healthy eating tips (that is out of my scope of practice and you already get plenty of those everywhere!).
Today celebrate all the ways you Rest Well and Move Well to Be Well Now.
Tomorrow I'll share what it means to Nourish Well.
Share this with someone you know who wants to celebrate December in the Well State.
