Holiday Affirmation: Embody Kindness
Whatever you celebrate this season, it likely has its roots in kindness. While being kind to others is a great idea, it can become a "should" if your body and brain do not feel like a kind place to be inside.
Affirmations are more than just words you say in your head. If you say an affirmation like "be kind", but your body is telling you a different story, the affirmation will bring on more stress-tension inside.
Affirmations need to affirm what your body and heart know to be true. Studies show the position of your body has a greater impact on your actions than just thinking differently.
If kindness is part of your holiday celebrations, here is how to embody kindness inside. You can use this simple, Spacious Breath whenever you feel that holiday tension rising in your body. This is one of the embodied mindsets that are part of the Start Well program. Clients tell me they find it to be a resource when they feel stress rising. I use a Spacious Breath as I'm driving, cooking, walking, shopping, and any time I need to remember to be kind inside.
Once you embody kindness you can layer on kind self-talk affirmations, like "You are okay,". The body-brain combo affirms what you feel in your body. Rather than that affirmation being just words, it is felt in your whole person. Your brain, body, and heart are aligned. When you feel Kind Inside you are ready to share kindness with more ease.
Check out this holiday affirmation: Embody kindness in this less than two-minute video below where I guide you to using a spacious breath to affirm kindness inside, so you have more to give to others.
