Restore Trust in Your Body
All this month I am sharing daily tips for celebrating well rather than stressed.
Stress is the state of your body and brain trying to get somewhere else.
Well is the opposite state. Your brain is trusting what you know inside your body and heart.
The most effective and efficient way to shift your cells out of the stress state and back to the well state is mindful, science-based movement.
Mindfulness gets your brain back to the present,
Science-based movement clears the ready-to-move tension from your body.
When moving is stress-producing it's time to restore trust in your body's ability to Move Well.
Your primitive brain knows how to move well, with the most strength with the least strain. Likely no one had to teach you how to crawl, stand up, and walk when you were an infant. Your cells just knew how.
Your body was born with the foundational instructions for moving well. I review them here in this video.
You can rewire them with this simple three-step practice of shifting into your natural alignment, using your core to support your center, and hinging to move. These are principles from the movement science of biomechanics. We have lost them in our quick-fix fitness culture.
Your cells know better. Your body is smarter than any fitness expert.
Align-->Core Support --> Hinge are the first three steps to moving well to clear the stress state. Once you have restored this foundation and learned to start any movement from these three steps, you can move with greater mobility, strength, and stamina in the well state, not the stress state.
Like a tree with strong roots, your movements become more stable and nourishing rather than stressful, straining, and fatiguing.
This takes time, just like growing a tree needs time to grow strong nourishing roots to produce fruit, your body and brain need time to restore this muscle memory to move well.
Give it a try and see how much sense it makes to your body to move this way.
Tomorrow I'll share more about how to take the stress out of moving so it can be a resource to Be Well Now through the holidays and all year long.
Share this with someone you know who wants to celebrate December in the Well State.
