Yes, You Can Be Well Not Stressed
Throughout December, I am sharing daily tips for Celebrating in the Well State, not the stressed state. It only takes a moment to shift from stressed to well when you know how to Be Well Now.
This week we have been looking at the difference between these two physiologic states of stress and well.
Stress is when your body and brain are trying to get somewhere else.
Unless you are in imminent danger that you need to fight or flee from, you don't need to be in that state.
Well is when you are trusting what you know inside as your guide.
Mindfulness is the first step. Being present to your self-talk, emotions, and physical sensations gets your brain out of the time-traveling, problem-solving mode and back to the present moment.
Movement that follows the principles of movement science clears the ready-to-move tension. Movement that ignores those principles adds to the tension.
This is what it means to Move Well. It only takes a few moments, mindfully stretching while your coffee brews, enjoying a dance party with your kids while cooking something in the microwave, or mindfully squeezing your muscles to release tension before going to sleep. There are many moments to shift your cells from stress to well in daily life.
Get creative and enjoy Celebrating Well.
Next week I will share how to Rest Well, by knowing how to transform barriers like pain, energy, low motivation, and overwhelm into guides to Be Well Now.
Share this with someone you know who wants to celebrate December in the Well State.
