In the midst of the holidays is no time to be thinking about starting or restarting health habits. You probably have a list of things you know you should be doing for your health but are putting off until the time is right.
Waiting is smart. As I mentioned before, your body has a fixed energy budget. Starting when you have the energy to put into health habits is a form of self-care.
Those ‘shoulds’ still take from your energy budget now though. There is one thing you can do now to free up some energy and give yourself a greater chance of success when you do start.
Pose this question to yourself and let it steep for a few days.
What is the one thing I can do that would have the biggest impact on my health and wellbeing?
Trust your gut on this. Quiet the noise and listen to what only you know inside.
When you have it, write it down, tuck it away and exhale.
Use that energy you just freed up to enjoy and be well now in this season. In the next blog, I will share with you the way to use that clarity to give yourself the best chance for success with staying motivated.
